Greensboro's tourism authorities are constantly looking for more opportunities, and one of the things they are looking for will be next July, when the 2016 USA Masters Games come to town. The city of Greensboro is helping to lead its next generation to a positive sports experience. With the opening of a new sports complex in the city centre and the addition of an athletics hall, Greensborough has established itself as one with a lot to offer in terms of sports, entertainment and tourism.
The Games are held every two years in the United States and are intended to emulate similar events in other countries. The Division I and II national championships are scheduled for the first week of July 2015 and 2016. These meetings will provide elite young swimmers with the opportunity to qualify for their first ever USA Masters Games.
Officials in Greensboro expect more than 1,000 athletes from North Carolina, South Carolina and other states, as well as the District of Columbia, to be on the team. The first national synchronized swimming championships of its kind in the United States will be held on Saturday, July 4, 2015 at UNC - Chapel Hill Aquatics Center, with an estimated 1,200 young athletes and their parents participating.
Next to the Special Events Center, the Colosseum complex is located in the Greensboro Aquatic Center, which has also been very busy recently. Together, these events, hosted by UNC - Chapel Hill, UNC and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, demonstrate the city's commitment to sports and tourism.
The Coliseum Special Events Center will host the Greensboro Spring Invitational in April, which is expected to feature an estimated 100 elite girls' basketball teams from around the country. This new multisport event is expected to attract more than 1,000 high school and college athletes from across North Carolina to compete. US Swimming will hold its 2015 Futures Championships at the Greenboro Aquatic Center from April 10-12, 2015.
This great event, which is being held under one roof for the first time, will take place April 10-12, 2015 at the Greenboro Coliseum Special Events Center. As part of the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) Certified Player Program, players are allowed to compete in front of recruiting companies from multiple colleges and universities.
There is a flyball event in which teams of up to four dogs of every breed and size compete in a relay race. Dogs must overcome four hurdles to get to the box, release the ball and then carry it over again. The next teammate on the other side of the line then completes the cycle and the next one after. To perform and practice as a team is essential for cheerleading, as the sequence must be completed in unison.
