High Point Friends School Reviews

This school continues to position itself as an institution that cultivates confidence, a sense of community, and depth of character in its students. I have watched this school develop over the past 12 years from a preschool and kindergarten into a Lower and Middle School with bright students and a caring group of people. The strength of this school is in the established Friends Meeting that hosts the school on its grounds and the support it gets from parents, faculty, and members of the community.

The teachers are kind and very generous with their time. Each student is treated fairly and respectfully. The education is well-rounded and includes not only academic subjects but social responsibility topics.

It's losing all of its good teachers..the foundation is flying out from under it.

Friendly staff and children. Welcoming environment and good academics. We searched and searched and think we have finally found a home for our child. I don't worry at all when I leave and he is always anxious to get to school and learn. You really have to check this place out.

I can not say enough wonderful things about this school. I've experienced the pre-school - filled with creativity and love, the lower school - the most fantastic foundation there is, and the middle school - development of independance and confidence. Come see this place and you will be sold! The brand new facility and the wonderful faculty will make you realize that HPFS is the perfect place for your child.

Tucked into a nice neighborhood, HPFS has a 'little red schoolhouse' feel but is throughly modern in its facilities. HPFS is a wonderful educational and caring environment. My kids have been there for 4 years and enjoy the small classes and attention from the teachers. My 5th grader has a great time playing soccer and cross country with his schoolmates. Diversity is improving. The new gym is fantastic and allows much more for PE and interschool sports. I really like the solid but understated christian teachings that pervade school activities. Check it out!

My son began at HPFS when he was in 4th grade. He s now prparing to graduate from 8th grade. My son has made tremendous advancedment in academics as well as gains in self confidenece. Two years ago the school made progress in providing an atheletic program. The students have truely learn teamwork and are very supportive of each other. My son has had an amazing experiene at HPFS and he will never forget the dedication and support he was provided in such a nurturing, safe environment.

My son has been attending HPFS since he was in 3rd grade. He is now in 7th grade and is still getting the best education he can possible get. He enjoys the small classrooms, the closeness of all the students. He loves the teachers and he has told me several times that he can talk to his teachers anytime and they listen to him and help him whenever he needs it. As a parent I love how the teachers respond to the children. They always talk to them in a positive manner, they are all professional and they are very caring. All of the teachers are very highly qualified and they all have degrees. Most of all the students and teachers all act like a family. This is the advantage of being in a small school. Come and be apart of our family!

The triad's Best Kept Secret ~ that is how those of us whose children go to this school feel about it. The three F's are so important to their success: Faculty, Facilities and Family. I am the parent of two children who started as preschoolers at the sweet age of three years old and now enjoy Kindergarten and Fourth grade. We have found this school to be a loving, nurturing, and educational environment. As parents we have watched in awe as our childrens' lives have been shaped and molded by the caring staff they encounter everyday. In addition to a first rate education; our children are learning the importance of peace, community, compassion, friendship and equality through life lessons learned every day. The joy of having children that Love their school, want to go each day and look forward to the next = priceless.

My older son started in middle school and also loves this environment. i cant think of a better place for a child to go through the challenges of puberty than HPFS. The MS teachers make a point to 'know' the children and work to meet their everchanging needs. the education level surpasses eveything we experienced in public and 1 year in another private school. I was very concerned initially about them transitionaling smoothly to high school, but my worries were unfounded. They will be more than ready for any program that is available. Thank you for making Our Middle school experience wonderful!!

I am a parent and a teacher. Not many people know about HPFS yet, but it is a wonderful 'secret' that everyone should know about. It has a wonderful atmosphere & a lot of opportunity. I have only been involved with the middle school. They have a very strong academic program, and they follow NC standard course of study. Their math program is advanced and flexible, based on the needs of the student. They offer geometry at the 8th grade level, opening all kinds of doors for their students going into different high school programs. They offer 5 different coed sports. They also have a climbing wall and a fantastic gym. They offer opportunity for outdoor ed. All the students are involved in community serivce and worship is a daily part of the school day. It really is a great place to grow up!

Wow, My daughter and son have been with this school since the two year old preschool class. The school has come a long way. We went through some growing pains early on with the school, and couldn't be happier about staying. The director and staff care so much about the school and it shows. This school let's me have peace of mind that our children are getting a 'five star' education in a safe loving environment.

My children have attended this school since they were 2 years old. They are now in the 3rd and 7th grades and have had a wonderful educational experience! I would recommend HPFS to any family looking for a classic education in a caring community.

Our family was at this school for two years. We've moved away and have not been able to find a school that even comes close! Our family gets relocated frequently, due to my spouse's job, and we have attended several private schools. None can compare to HPFS! The new school head is wonderful. He knows that for children to learn, they need to in an environment where they feel valued and loved. He expects the teachers to echo this sentiment, also. My children loved their friends at the school and with the new direction the school will be impossible to surpass. We are doing all we can to return to HPFS. Children there are loved, respected, and expected to work hard; however, they have fun while learning. The faith is gently introduced--no dogma or extreme fundamentalism--just wonderful core values anyone of any faith would want to instill.

HPFS is a true blessing to my family. We have two children one in pre-school and one in grade school. Our oldest has been at HPFS since she was two. As all new schools do we have had of our share of growing pains but it has all been worth it. HPFS has so much to offer and it is a wonderful environment. My children are so happy and love school. We have a wonderful staff and our parental involvement is unbelievable! I can't say enough about our wonderful school!

What a difference a year makes. The leadership changes of this school have had a dramatic and positive effect. David Girardi, the director, is such an experienced and strong leader. He and his teachers have a vision for the school that is impressive and already being attained. The beautiful facilities are expanding to include even more opportunities and extracurricular activities. We have re-enrolled our children due to our comfort with the new direction. The school has a nice balance of educating the children and promoting good citizenship without being overbearing with fundamentalist views.

I have two children at HPFS and would not have them anywhere else. We have tried other more expensive private schools but you cannot under-estimate the effect that a loving faith-based environment has on a child's ability to develop and progress. Our oldest son has been able to reach his potential with the smaller class sizes. With the addition of a middle school facility over the next year, HPFS will continue to build a synergy and be able to provide this excellent education to even more students in the Triad. HPFS is truly a hidden gem in a county with much choice but very little quality in education.

I have 2 children at HPFS, one in the preschool program and one in the lower school. We have had a wonderful experience at HPFS! My children are excelling in their academics and the facility is new and wonderful. They are excited about learning and their teachers are nurturing and caring, and they are excellent at what they do. I could not ask for a better place to send my precious ones. I see HPFS growing and getting better and better each year.

What a blessing this school is for my child. She is in 3rd grade this year at HP Friends and actually looks forward to going everyday. The smaller class size seems to help keep her from feeling so 'overwhelmed'. She is much better organized and she tells me that she doesn't become as easily distracted as she did in public school. She dearly loves her teacher and from everything I've seen, her teacher certainly seems to love her students too. Everyone that I have met there has been more than willing to help me with whatever I've needed. It's a beautiful school with clean, cheerful classrooms. The academics appear to be slightly more advanced than her previous school. I can't imagine what this school could do any better.

The Head of School has been replaced by David Girardi, a leader with years of experience in public and private education, and who has a strong understanding of the strengths and potential of Friends School. I have been so impressed in the difference between the start of school this 2006-2007 year compared to last. The teachers are happy, and my friends who also have children enrolled at the school are happy. I am so excited about the potential of this school year with a new page turned. The facilites are among the best in High Point.

After several years at Friends, I finally pulled the plug and feel much better. I am tired of a terrible administration not to mention supportive staff which adversely affected my child's education. Small class size because they cannot get the enrollment. Is it a leap to wonder why?

When my child started kindergarten in 2002 we were commited to this school for the duration of her educational career. After the retirement of the original minister the school quickly started to unravel. New admisnistrators with questionable backrounds and morals were chosen as compasses for our children. There were many unacceptable events in the 05/06 school year. We have pulled both of our children from the school and have sought private education elsewhere.

My wife and I like the new Director and are also glad middle school is being added. Art and Orchestra are being added this fall too. On my first visit I was impressed by the spaciousness of the classrooms. I also appreciate the quality & relevance of field trips as well as the reasonableness of tuition.

We moved here from out of state and chose High Point Friends School for our children even before we purchased a home. We have been very pleased with the quality of the curriculum, the enthusiasim and commitment of the teachers, as well as the attractiveness of the facilities. The elementary Music and P.E. programs are superb! We are delighted that a Middle School is being added and are very impressed by the new principal.

When High Point Friends added on the elementary school addition, our family was so very pleased that our children would be able to continue their education with this establishment. However, after five years, the elementary school continues having difficulty establishing its self and now their adding a middle school. That is where the attention will now focus despite a weak elementary school. There are no extra curricular activities offered, classes in the lower elementary classes have high turn over and class sizes in upper elementary classes are very small and therefore limit social relationships. We also became very concerned with the high administrative and teacher turnover rate. My family, therefore, is placing our children in a different private school where we can feel some stability in every aspect of the school.

My children have been at HPFS for several years now and love it. The facilities and the staff are excellent and they foster a love of learning for my children. In my opinion, HPFS is one of the Triad area's best kept secrets for a private education.

I would have like to have kept my child at HPFS in hopes to see it grow and become a great school. However, due to the new administration, lack of enrollment and high turn over rate, my child will attend a different private school next year.

My child attend High Point Friends Grade School until recently. The small class sizes however are not due to class size limits but are due to lack of enrollment. The school offers no extra curricular activities other than Spanish, Music and Computers. The tuition at HPFS is competitive with other independent schools, but with none of the other schools many advantages.
