Artist Bio
Windy Lampson was born on January 7, 1981 in Goldsboro, NC where she remained for 17 years. She began studying at East Carolina University in 1998, receiving a BFA in Studio Art and a BFA in Art Education in 2003. In 2005, she received her MFA in Studio Art with a concentration in painting.
Directly after school, she moved to Orlando, FL to teach art at an elementary school while her husband worked on his Recording Arts degree. In 2006, they moved to Richmond, VA where she continued to teach art to elementary students while painting in her free time. In the summer of 2007, her husband was hired at Elon University, and they moved for a third time.
Now, Windy is living in NC painting full-time, and she continues to share her knowledge and appreciation of art with children at Arts Alive Fine Arts Studio in Burlington, NC. She is also teaching an oil painting class to adults once a week at the Burlington Artists League Gallery at the Burlington Square Mall. Oil painting is Windy's medium of choice, and she has been commissioned by clients throughout the country for her unique portraits. More recently, Seymour Johnson Air Force Base commissioned her for a portrait of the naval officer for whom the base is named. To date, she has sold work in five countries as well as eleven of the United States.
